Every month up to 50 people gather to network and connect on Salt Spring
Island sustainability and environmental issues, projects, local
initiatives, news, etc. Green Drinks is a global movement and we've been
doing it on Salt Spring for over 2 years! It is a great opportunity to
relax and catch-up with like-minded folks concerned for the environment
and our plant.
I-SEA & SOLID GALA FUNDRAISER & MUSIC EVENT
November 1st,
Harbour House (See photos of the event)
The organizers of the fundraiser at the Harbour House would like to
thank everyone that came out to bid on the 80+ items. We raised over
$3880.00!
Thank you to Jack and Glenda Woodward for providing a wonderful space, the
best veggie food and a huge discount to make this an affordable fundraiser!
And thank you to the staff and all the volunteers that came out to help.
Everything ran just so smoothly.
Thank you to all the wonderful local donors. Each and every one of you
helped make this event a success because by having such an array of high
value items we were able to raise so much money.
Another huge thank you to Stephanie Rhodes for organizing the music,
including a set by Billie Woods! It was the perfect accompaniment to good
food and good bidding! Both artists donated their time.
Again, thank you from I-SEA and SOLID - this community is just amazing!

RECYCLING PILOT PROGRAM - PHASE II:
This assessment and pilot program, run by I-SEA, is to provide the data needed to determine the costs of running an island-wide recycling program in public spaces. If we can manage our waste in these high tourist and resident traffic areas we are one step closer to addressing commercial waste and recycling issues on Salt Spring.
See more information about the program here.

I-SEA
Sustainability can be a “many splendored thing”, uncovering, illuminating, and advancing all that makes up an enriching, vibrant, and healthful quality of life. While many humans likely have an innate sense of what sustainability is and how it can be nurtured, we all probably can benefit from further exploring, contemplating, practicing, and evolving our sustainability ideas at home, work, and play. The Institute for Sustainability Education & Action (I-SEA) was created to broaden and deepen the understanding, appreciation, and commitment to sustainability locally throughout the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, as well as internationally.
